Towns Grant Police Harbor Patrol Designation
A boat crash on Chappaquiddick earlier this year prompted two Island police departments to designate more officers to harbor patrols to better enforce the law on the water. Both Edgartown and Oak Bluffs police got permission from their select boards in recent weeks to have their officers handle incidents on the water after an allegedly drunk Cotuit man crashed his 43-foot yacht on Chappy in May.
Mashpee man could serve 20 years for Cape Cod ice cream shop robbery
In June 2019, the Barnstable Police Department went to Steve & Sue’s Par-Tee Freeze on a call that three employees who were closing the shop were approached by a masked man who had a small knife. The business owner, watching through security footage, called 911. The masked man, armed with a knife, backed two of the workers into the store and ordered one of the employees to empty the safe, according to the police. ...
Oak Bluffs police respond to over 200 incidents in a week, including fights, vandalism, and DUIs
OAK BLUFFS — The Oak Bluffs Police Department reported handling a total of 209 incidents this past week, from Monday, July 15 to Sunday, July 21. The week began with officers responding to a fight involving multiple males and juveniles at Healy Square and Post Office Square early Monday morning.
Driver extricated after traffic on Route 28 in Mashpee
MASHPEE – Firefighters had to extricate a victim from a traffic collision in Mashpee. The crash happened on Falmouth Road (Route 28) by Sampsons Mill Road. The victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital under a trauma alert. Traffic was tied up in the area while the scene was worked. Mashpee Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
Vehicle vs boat trailer stalls traffic on Route 151 in Mashpee
MASHPEE – A Jeep collided with a boat trailer in Mashpee around 10 AM Thursday. The crash happened on Nathan Ellis Highway (Route 151) near Old Barnstable Road. The trailer attached to a pickup truck appeared to be carrying a Mashpee Department of Natural resources vessel. No injuries were reported. The incident is under investigation. Traffic was tied up in the area until the vehicles could be removed.
