According to the U.S. Western District Court of Oklahoma, Dr. John Nedza was convicted on 18 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by deceit or subterfuge on July 11.

Nedza was accused of using his position as a contract anesthesiologist to divert controlled substances, including fentanyl, ketamine, dilaudid and midazolam, from an OKC-based hospital by claiming the drugs were for patient surgeries.

The court says Nedza did this on at least six occasions in March 2022. He would then claim to dispose of the drugs for the nonexistent surgeries and keep them for personal purposes.

Nedza faces up to four years for each count, with a total possible sentence of 72 years in federal prison.
