Jorge Meza-Alarcon Jr. (El Paso County Sheriff’s Office)

Colorado authorities arrested a man who they say murdered a woman he met over Snapchat by strangling her with a chokehold.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 1 from a man requesting a welfare check on an unresponsive woman at a home in the 13000 block of Halleluiah Trail. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the woman dead. After conducting several interviews, deputies arrested 26-year-old Jorge Meza-Alarcon Jr. for first-degree murder .

An arrest affidavit obtained by the Colorado Springs Gazette and local CBS affiliate KKTV said deputies found the victim, 18-year-old Annabelle Floren-Wyant, inside the home with blood near her ear and on her pants and underwear at her ankles. One of her friends reportedly told cops he had dropped Floren-Wyant at the home around 1 a.m. to “collect money” from Meza-Alarcon. Floren-Wyant had gotten weird vibes from Meza-Alarcon and requested the friend stay in touch via text, the affidavit reportedly said. The friend stopped hearing from her after about 90 minutes so he called the police.

Cops found Meza-Alarcon about three miles from the home with visible injuries to his face. In an interview, he reportedly told detectives that he met Floren-Wyant over Snapchat and he was going to pay her for sex. He first claimed he was going to get the money to pay her when she allegedly hit him with something, possibly a phone, that knocked him out, the affidavit reportedly said. He then woke up about three miles away and called 911 to report the assault.

But later in the interview, he allegedly changed his story. He reportedly said Floren-Wyant had threatened him before and was wary of an idling car outside the home and her constantly texting someone. Scared he was going to be attacked, he said he “instantly went to a leglock but transitioned to a ‘D’arce’ chokehold which he demonstrated on the floor of the interview room,” the affidavit reportedly stated. Meza-Alarcon then got off her and went outside.

“Jorge was asked if he knew Annabelle was dead when he left the room and he stated ‘without checking her pulse…’ and said he ‘knows how to do locks,’ because he ‘likes to train,’ and he knows when the chokehold is used ‘you only have 2-3 taps in you,’” the arrest affidavit reportedly said.

Deputies arrested Meza-Alarcon and took him to the El Paso County Jail where he remains on a $1 million bond. He has a court hearing scheduled for Thursday. Local NBC affiliate KOAA reported he was arrested in February for choking a dog to death and dumping its body in a dumpster.
