Scotty Walden earns a spot on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 40 under 40

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – UTEP football head coach Scotty Walden has earned a spot on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 40 under 40.

This marks Campbell’s 5th installment of the list, honoring young coaches throughout the entire lone star state.

Walden has made an undeniable impact within the Miners program, despite only joining the team back in December of 2023.

The former Austin Peay head coach has created a new culture in the borderland led by high energy and an experienced background.

Walden first started his coaching career back in 2012 as an assistant coach, earning his first head coaching gig in 2016.

Beginning his tenure at Austin Peay in November of 2020, Walden guided the team to a 26-14 record during his time in Clarksville, TN.

Now, Walden brings his talents to El Paso where his positive influence has not only gained local recognition – but statewide.
