An El Paso man was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in South-Central earlier this month, authorities said.

Miguel Eduardo Teran-Moral, 30, was arrested on Thursday, July 18, on suspicion of murder in the July 7 shooting death of 29-year-old Ivan Dario Bello Espitia, El Paso Police Department officials said.

Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress about 3 a.m. July 7 in the 200 block of South Glenwood Street near Alameda Avenue in South-Central. The report was then upgraded to a shooting, officials said.

Officers found Espitia with multiple gunshot wounds. The El Paso resident died from wounds suffered in the shooting, officials said.

Crimes Against Persons Unit investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Teran-Moral. Police officers and the U.S. Marshal's Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Teran-Moral on Thursday on suspicion of murder.

Teran-Moral, who is listed on a jail log as "Miguel Teran," was booked into the El Paso County Jail Downtown on a $1 million bond. He remains jailed as of Sunday. Teran-Moral's jail booking photo has not been released by police.

No details were released on a motive for the shooting.

Espitia's death was the 11th homicide of 2024 compared to 23 at this same time last year, officials said.
