Village Board approves curbs, gutters in business park
The Wittenberg Village Board on July 16 approved having curbs and gutters installed in the village’s business park. Trustee David Timm said consultant Mary Jo Miller with Martenson and Eisele recommended the board make a decision on whether there should be curb and gutter throughout the whole park or just in the residential area, like the planned new apartment complex to be built by S.C. Swiderski.
CWEC linemen help with Navajo Nation project
Eland man among crew bringing electricity to Indigenous tribe. For the second year in a row, two linemen from Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative (CWEC) traveled to the Navajo Nation in Arizona to take part in the Light Up Navajo Project. Linemen Mack Yarbrough and Josh Wick spent a week in May working to bring electricity to residents of the Navajo Nation.
Humane Society of Marathon County hosts free pet food pop-up
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - The Humane Society of Marathon County held a free pet food pop-up Thursday at Wild Roots Apothecary in Schofield. Pet owners were able to pick up cat and dog food for free that would otherwise expire at the humane society. The goal of the event was to lift any financial burdens people have with feeding their pets and to keep the animals and their owners together.
The buck stops in Rothschild as village decides how to handle deer problem
ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WSAW) - Rothschild is taking on a new kind of foe other than the heat this summer — the deer population. People are reporting an increase in the animals wreaking havoc on yards across the village and yours could be next. This increase does make sense though. After the mild winter, food was more accessible. Less snow and warmer temperatures meant a better survival and reproduction rate.

The Bowler School District received a $400 STEAM grant from Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative (CWEC) to purchase 10 electronic balance scales. Meeting held to discuss safer routes for cyclists and pedestrians between Schofield and Wausau
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - A meeting took place Thursday to discuss making travel between Schofield and Wausau safer for bicyclists and pedestrians. Currently, the quickest route through the city for cyclists is along Grand Avenue and Business 51. While this path is fast, it is not always safe due to heavy traffic. The streets and sidewalks along Grand Avenue are not ideal for cyclists.
