ELGIN, Texas (KXAN) — One man is dead and another has been arrested after a suspected road rage incident in Elgin Tuesday night, police said in a release.
The Elgin Police Department said it responded around 7:08 p.m. Tuesday to a disturbance and shots fired call at U.S. Highway 290 and County Line Road.
Police believe the situation started as a road rage incident between the victim and another driver. Police said they both left their vehicles and got into a fight, which escalated into a shooting.
Police found a man, later identified as Joseph Stanczyk, dead from an apparent gunshot wound, EPD said.
Fabian Salas, 34, was arrested and charged with murder in the incident, police said. As of Wednesday morning, attorney representation wasn’t available for Salas. This story will be updated if that information becomes available and his representation provides a statement on his behalf.
