The assassination attempt on former President Trump and the Anti-Semitic protest in front of Rep. Brad Schneider’s home are two recent events that have shocked us to our core. Our democracy and our discourse are rooted oftentimes in differences. Democracy is founded on being able to articulate and then resolve our differences with checks and balances. It cannot be explained away or rationalized by committing awful acts of violence or hatred. We condemn such acts and always will. As I have expressed before, hatred and violence have no place anywhere, especially and in Deerfield. Let’s be able to disagree without being disagreeable, violent, irrational or irresponsible. Let’s engage in civility and unite against violence, terror, racism, bigotry and hatred.
