Lorimor woman booked on warrants in Creston
(Creston) -- A Lorimor woman was arrested on multiple warrants in Creston Tuesday evening. The Creston Police Department says 43-year-old Megan Marie Brown was arrested shortly before 6 p.m. on four warrants, all for failure to appear on the original charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor, driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor, possession of a controlled substance--marijuana and methamphetamine, 1st offense--both serious misdemeanors, and for failure to serve jail time on the charge of person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, a serious misdemeanor. Authorities say the arrest occurred at 307 North Street.

Former Cass County Assistant Extension Director Reflects Back on the History of the Fair
(Atlantic) The Cass County Fair is celebrating its 75th anniversary, and many of you following the Cass County Facebook Page have enjoyed reading about the individuals, families, and business contributors who have contributed over the past 75 years. One of those individuals is Duane Feltz, who served as the Assistant County Extension Director under Dan Merrick from 1959 to 1966. It's been a rough tornado season and a new Illinois law is taking aim at that. We can all agree it's been a messy summer. In the Chicago area alone last week, there were 33 tornadoes, compared to their usual 5 or 6 per year. With the derecho that moved through last week, 5 tornadoes rolled through the QCA. In Iowa, May was ridiculous. We average 11 tornadoes in May. But this year, we had over 80 tornadoes in May alone.
