    Elk River police report: Orange '73 Chevy Caprice convertible stolen; customers behaving badly; and vehicle plus gun returned to Enterprise

    A 1973 orange Chevrolet Caprice convertible has been reported stolen from AT Repair, 17119 Highway 10, Elk River.

    The vehicle belongs to a customer of the business and was stolen from the parking lot. The theft was reported to police on Feb. 1. Elk River Police Capt. Joe Gacke said police are investigating.

    One employee slapped, another has pop thrown at her

    Employees at two stores in Elk River were accosted in two separate incidents on Feb. 6.

    In one case, at Goodwill, 19624 Holt St., a male employee reported that a female slapped him in the face two times before leaving the store shortly after noon. The suspect is described as a mid-20s female with dirty blond hair and pajama-style bottoms. She possibly left in a dark SUV. Gacke said the incident is under investigation.

    In the other case, at Walmart, 18185 Zane St., a woman was working at the self-checkout shortly before 4 p.m. when she was involved in a verbal altercation with a woman approximately 25 years old.

    After the female checked out and left the store, she returned and threw a cup of orange soda pop at the employee and again left the store, according to the police report.

    The store’s loss prevention personnel was unable to locate a vehicle for the suspect. The victim did not want to pursue criminal charges; management requested that the female be trespassed if identified, the police report stated.

    Vehicle, plus a gun, returned to Enterprise

    A gun was found in a rental vehicle that was returned to Enterprise, 265 Carson St. in Elk River. Police were called there at around 4:15 p.m. Feb. 1.

    The firearm came back clear and was placed into evidence for safekeeping at the Elk River Police Department. Gacke said it’s believed that the gun belongs to the previous renter of the vehicle.

    Man returns stolen drill after confronted

    Police are investigating a theft involving a man who exited Home Depot at 18011 Zane St. in Elk River with a DeWalt drill valued at $159. Loss prevention confronted him in the parking lot and he gave the drill back, according to the police report.

    He left driving a vehicle with Wisconsin plates. The theft was reported to police shortly before 3 p.m. Feb. 6.

    Boy, 16, cited after going 92 mph

    A 16-year-old Zimmerman boy was cited for reckless driving and speed after he was going 92 mph in a 65 mph zone in Elk River, according to the police report.

    The incident happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. Feb. 1 near Highway 169 and 213th Avenue.

    Ice Castle fish house attempted break in

    Someone damaged an Ice Castle fish house by attempting to break into it by prying the door open. Entry was not made, but the damage to the door is estimated at about $1,000. The damage was reported to police on Feb. 6.

    The incident happened at McChesney Cabinets, 18936 York St., Elk River.

    Trailers have locks cut, damaged

    Police were dispatched to Fishing for Life, 12698 Industrial Blvd., Elk River, for a damage to property report on Feb. 6. Several enclosed trailers parked in the lot had their locks cut or locking mechanisms damaged.

    DWIs reported

    DWIs have been reported recently in Elk River, including:

    • At 2 a.m. Feb. 4, police observed a vehicle drive through the stop sign at Main Street and Gates Avenue without stopping. The driver, a 26-year-old East Bethel man, was arrested for DWI.

    • Police arrested a 29-year-old Elk River man for DWI after an officer observed a vehicle traveling west on Highway 10 at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. The officer activated the patrol unit’s radar which showed the vehicle going 75 mph in a 60 mph zone. Police arrested the driver for DWI. The incident happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. Feb. 3.
