The Guns ‘N Hoses hockey game — police officers and firefighters in some good-natured fun — will now be a fundraiser for the families of the three Burnsville first responders who were killed in the line of duty this past Sunday.

Officials for the Elk River Fire Department and Elk River Police Department got together and decided to do that instead of fundraising for their respective foundations.

The first-time Elk River event will be on March 10. The public is invited to cheer on Elk River’s local first responders and to support the families of Officer Paul Elmstrand, Officer Matthew Ruge, and firefighter-paramedic Adam Finseth.

The Elk River Fire Department and the Elk River Police Department are going head-to-head in a game of boot hockey at 4 p.m. at the Furniture and Things Community Event Center in the Kiser 2 Arena. All ticket sales and the proceeds from the merchandise sales will go to the families of fallen first responders.

John Osterman, the “voice” of ERHS varsity football, and Elk River City Administrator Cal Portner will be announcing the game. For details, visit https://kiserrenovations.com/elk-river-guns-n-hoses-hockey-game/ .
