Haughton Student Chosen as District Winner for DARE Essay of the Year Contest
Captain Doug Lauter recently presented a $100.00 check to Aiden Williams at the Viking Drive Substation for being chosen as the DARE Essay of the Year winner in the Northwest District. Deputy Brandon Dunn, the SRO at Haughton Elementary School, entered the 5th-grade-student’s essay in as a 2024 L.D.O.A. (Louisiana D.A.R.E. Officer’s Association) D.A.R.E. Essay of The Year Nominee.
Detached Flatbed Trailer Kills Bossier Parish Man on Lawnmower
On July 4, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G was notified of a vehicle crash involving a truck and a man operating a lawnmower at his residence. The crash occurred on Louisiana Highway 3 north of Kingston Road and ultimately claimed the life of 66-year-old Donald Ward.

Shreveport Woman Sentenced to Life-Plus for Husband’s Murder
A Shreveport woman who shot her husband and then doused his body with gasoline must serve life in prison, and then some, a Caddo district judge has ruled. Charlene Henderson, 45, found guilty in June of the May 16, 2022 second-degree murder of Larry Clark, also 45, was sentenced Tuesday, July 16, 2024 to the mandatory life term by District Judge John D. Mosely Jr.. She was sentenced to another 20 years in prison, to be served consecutively, for conviction of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Another very warm and muggy night ahead with temperatures holding in the mid and upper 70s. Wednesday will be the last day of extreme heat & humidity as a rare July cold front starts to approach from the north during the afternoon. Highs will still climb into the mid to upper 90s before the front arrives with feels like temperatures likely topping 105. By late afternoon, storms will start to develop along the I-30 corridor and then these storms will overspread the rest of the region as we head into the evening and overnight hours.

One dead after shootout at family gathering near elementary school in Shreveport
One person is dead after a shooting at a family gathering in central Shreveport near the campus of the now-closed Werner Park Elementary School. Police responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Westover Road and Velva Street, and learned that a family gathering had been taking place near the intersection before the shooting. One victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, where they were pronounced dead, police said.
