ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The City of Elmira Code Department has issued a “stop work” order at the new “Tokz Exotics” business on the corner of College and Roe Avenue. It’s being built at the former location of a Jimmy John’s sandwich shop, next to the former Family Video Store.

The store already has a large sign up showing its name. A logo appears to show a dog smoking something. Inside the store, you can see glass display cases were already set up.

For more than a week, 18 News has been trying to find out what exactly the store would be selling. On June 18th, we called a number for a “Legacy Commercial Properties” that was listed on the building located at 1011 College Avenue. We asked for a description of the business and a contact number for the person in charge of “TOKZ Exotics.”
A leasing agent for “Legacy Commercial Properties” named Darrell Hall told us he would inquire. After not hearing an answer for two days, we followed up again. Hall told us he would inquire again. 18 News did not receive any responses until June 26th, when we followed up for a third time.
We told Mr. Hall we saw the “stop work” order issued at the property. We asked if “Legacy Commercial Properties” had any official comment on the status of the business. Mr. Hall said he had “no official comment.” Mr. Hall said he “forwarded our text to the gentleman in charge of the property.”
