County: DP Road Businesses Without Power – Outage Expected To Last Six Or More Hours UPDATE -POWER IS RESTORED
Businesses on DP Road from the fire station east, as well as buildings at TA-21, have no electric service while repairs are being made to damage that occurred this morning. TLC Plumbing was potholing along DP Road when they damaged an underground line and a transformer. Electric linemen from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities turned off power around 10 a.m. to make repairs. This repair work is expected to last at least six hours, and power will be restored when it is complete.

Los Alamos Natural Gas Rate Hike Heads To County Council
With approval from the Los Alamos Board of Public Utilities (BPU), a potential natural gas rate increase in now headed to the Los Alamos County Council. The introduction of the ordinance is scheduled for the Tuesday, July 9 meeting, and a public hearing will be held at the Tuesday, July 30 Council meeting.

We first heard public concerns that conducting aquatic center maintenance from September to April could negatively impact swim teams and other users. While contractor availability will play a role in scheduling, the PRB is committed to working with the Community Services Department (CSD) to minimize disruptions. Public comments like these are invaluable, and we encourage community input at the start of all our meetings to better serve public interests.

Los Alamos Commerce And Development Corporation Elects New Officers For Board Of Directors
The Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation (LACDC) Board of Directors has elected new officers including Los Alamos Daily Post Publisher Carol A. Clark as Chair of the Board. She has served on the LACDC Executive Committee since 2018. Retired Los Alamos National Laboratory manager Bill Wadt is Immediate Past Chair and a founding member of the non-profit organization. Los Alamos Landscaping and More Co-owner Craig Wehner was re-elected Vice Chair, Los Alamos Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Tracie Stratton elected Secretary and Century Bank Vice President Karen Easton re-elected Treasurer.
Los Alamos County To Host 4th Of July Spectacular
The 4th of July is this Thursday and Los Alamos County is ready for the event! The 4th of July Spectacular will be held 4-10 p.m. at Overlook Park in White Rock. The day of entertainment begins at 4 p.m. with the Los Alamos Community Winds, who have been a staple of the 4th of July and feature many of the area’s best classically trained musicians.
