City of Blair lifts boil order following E. coli contamination
BLAIR, Neb. (WOWT) - Blair residents are once again clear to use tap water as normal. The boil order that was in effect was lifted Saturday afternoon. The City says all samples taken Friday have tested negative for E. coli -- the second day of negative results. The boil order was in place for five days. The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy has authorized the “all clear,” ending restrictions on water usage from the City of Blair Water System.
Woman rescued after car plunges into creek bed
NEBRASKA CITY - Nebraska City Fire and Rescue rescued a trapped woman whose car plunged into a creek bed near south 11th Street Saturday. The Nebraska City woman was exiting the drive-thru lane at Cody’s U-Save when the car accelerated, went through the fence and dropped about eight feet from a retaining wall. The car went down a steep slope about 30 feet and dropped another six feet into the creek bed coming to rest on the front bumper at nearly a 90-degree angle.

Bottled, boil water advisory issued for parts of Shenandoah
(Shenandoah) -- Some Shenandoah residents are asked to boil their water or use bottled water until further notice. City officials say a bottled/boil water advisory is in effect for residents in the 300 and 400 block of North Broad Street and all who reside on Wabash Avenue. Officials say water service to impacted residents will be interrupted until necessary repairs are complete and water service is restored.
Star Spangled Shenandoah deemed a success
(Shenandoah) -- By all accounts, Shenandoah residents got a bang out of the community's pre-Independence Day activities Wednesday. After a wet start to the week, the sky cleared for the Star Spangled Shenandoah festivities Wednesday afternoon and evening at Sportsman's' Park, ranging from carnival games and pie baking contests to the fireworks show that concluded the night's festivities. Natalie Kirsch is the President of the Forum to Revitalize Shenandoah. Kirsch tells KMA News the lineup of festivities and vendors more or less went off without a hitch.
Final preparations for RAGBRAI underway in Glenwood
(Glenwood) -- Tens of thousands of cyclists are expected to assemble in Glenwood later this month for the beginning of a week-long trek across the state. Like multiple KMAland communities, the city of Glenwood and Mills County Area Chamber of Commerce are making final preparations over the next two weeks to welcome cyclists for the 51st Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, or RAGBRAI. This year, Glenwood is the starting point for the over 430-mile trek, including over 18,300 feet of climb. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Line" program Friday morning, Mills County Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jennie Davis says nearly 20 committees comprised primarily of volunteers have been working over the past several months to plan the event and tidy up the city.
