Estacada's Springwater Grange invites everyone to its 102nd Community Fair

The very best of local produce, canning, photography, crafts and more will be on display during the 102nd Springwater Community Fair at Springwater Grange No. 263 on Saturday, Sept. 21. The fair runs from 1-6 p.m. at the Grange Hall, 24591 S. Wallens Road, Estacada.

The event is free, but some activities may have a small charge. Refreshments will be available for purchase, including the prize-winning pies. Barbecue hamburgers and hotdogs will be served from noon to 5 p.m.

Activities during the day include Cornhole, a scavenger hunt, tie dying, the ever-popular cake walk and other craft activities. A special “Dress Up Your Veggie” contest will be held and while aimed at the community’s children, all are welcome to enter. Additionally, a car show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring more than cars -- tractors and motorcycles too.

In observance of the 102nd anniversary of the fair there will be a special “It’s Zucchini Season” Zucchini Bread contest from 10 a.m. to noon. Bring a loaf of your best zucchini bread or half a dozen muffins for judging.

All community members are invited to bring their best samples of produce from their gardens, food preservation, photos, artwork, handicrafts, and more for exhibiting and judging. Entries may be brought to the Grange Hall from 2-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, or from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Judging starts at noon. They can be picked up at the close of the fair at 6 p.m.

Is your garden producing an oversupply of vegetables? The Grange will have a produce exchange table set up under the front porch during the fair. Drop off your extra veggies or take what you can use. Leave a donation for the Estacada food bank if desired. All leftover vegetables will be donated to the food bank. And the Estacada Food Bank will be on hand to collect nonperishable food and cash donations during the fair.
