Dana Altman to get visit from No. 1 shooting guard in 2025 class

The last time Oregon got the No. 1 basketball recruit out of Michigan, it worked out well, with Malik Hairston going on to have quite a legacy in Eugene.

Now they are going to try their hand again in that state with the recruitment of shooting guard Trey McKenney, according to On3 Sports’ writer Joe Tipton.

McKenney is the No. 15 overall recruit in the Class of 2025 and is rated as the best player in Michigan. Joining the Big Ten Conference will open some Midwest doors for the Ducks and this is proof of just that.

But Oregon has some competition for the 6-foot-4 McKenney’s services. He has scheduled visits to USC , Michigan State , Notre Dame and Creighton.

Out of St. Mary’s Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.) McKenney led the Eaglets to a 27-1 record and their first state championship since 2000. He averaged 22.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest.
