HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- The Evansville Police Department has released body camera and drone footage of an officer involved shooting that took place on July 2 on Lewis Avenue.

Authorities say that they were called to the same residence four times within the span of two days, including Tuesday’s fatal shootout with Evansville Police Officers that killed 36 year old Kyle Puckett.

Police say that when they arrived, a man climbed out of his truck and pointed a loaded gun at officers. Body camera and drone footage show officers retreating to set up a perimeter as the man positioned himself at the rear of his house armed with a handgun, a rifle and at least one magazine of ammunition.

Drone footage shows the man reaching for a gun, prompting officers to fire. Police say that the man fired several rounds and then pointed the gun at officers. Sgt. Trudy Day with Evansville Police says that it does not appear the man was hit by the first rounds of fire. Later video appears to show the man attempting to reach again for the gun. This is when officers fired their weapons and hit the suspect.

Police say that in the last few days, the man’s state began to quickly decline. They could not speculate on his motives, but Sgt. Day says that it was obvious that the suspect had no intentions of cooperating with police.
