DNR Looking for Help with Annual Turkey Survey
(Lewis) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is asking for the public’s help with its wild turkey production survey for July and August. John Lorenzen, with the DNR Office in Lewis, says participants are to note the date and the county where the turkey was seen, mark down if it is an adult female or male, and indicate the number of poults present. Lorenzen says the DNR uses the information to gauge next year’s population in part by nest success.

New Park With Outdoor Stage Opens in Cedar Rapids
It's finally open! According to an article from CBS 2, another element of the 1st and 1st Development in Cedar Rapids held its grand opening last week. Welcome to 'The Yard!'. On July 3rd, the Yard and ImOn Stage at Kingston Yard officially opened to the public. The park is located right behind Big Grove Brewery and Pickle Palace and offers "extensive landscaping, a natural grass lawn, kids’ play area, state-of-the-art sound system, free Wi-Fi provided by ImOn, string lighting, paver walkways, and the main attraction; ImOn Stage." The event listing for the grand opening event says that the stage will not only be used for live music, but that it also has a 15’ wide and 8.5’ tall TV for showing movies and sporting events. Another cool thing about the stage is that it is made up of "reclaimed steel trusses" that were salvaged from a Cedar Rapids bridge that was built all the way back in 1910!
