BELLEVUE’S Bently Ernst, son of Chris and Katie Ernst, who was recently named the State Winner of the annual patriot essay contest, “What the Flag Means to Me,” sponsored by Bellevue American Legion Post #273, was recently honored at the State Summer American Legion Summer Meeting in Des Moines. Ernst was not only the winner of the 5th Grade Essay Contest locally, but across the entire state of Iowa, and was selected as tops out of more than 400 entries. MOLINE, Ill. — Back in 2018, storm chaser and Northern Illinois University professor Dr. Victor Gensini published a groundbreaking study on tornado patterns. He looked at tornado data from 1979 to 2017, examining trends on where tornadoes touched down and the location of certain ingredients that promote their development. Gensini found a marked eastward migration of the typical "tornado alley" many of us think of.

Last week, Iowa State University (ISU) closed its DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) office in order to adhere to state mandates. Lane Closures on Blairs Ferry Road Expected for Months Due to I-380 Project
(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A portion of Blairs Ferry Road in Cedar Rapids will have lane reductions for several months. The reductions come as a construction project continues on the I-380 overpass. The project is expected to completed in about three months. Detours will be posted in the area to ease the flow of traffic throughout the duration of the project.
