Bellevue asks to dismiss lawsuit
Attorneys representing the city of Bellevue recently filed a motion to dismiss all charges and complaints concerning a lawsuit against the Bellevue Police Department. The motion, made by attorneys from Lynch Dallas P.C. of Cedar Rapids, was filed July 12 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Iowa and suggested all counts be dismissed.

The Public Weighs in on $165 Million Waterloo Mega High School Plan

The Waterloo Community School District is embarking on its most significant change ever. On July 29, the Board of Education approved a $165,000,000 plan to consolidate its two high schools into a single new facility. North Liberty Explosion Injures Several Including a Firefighter
An explosion at a commercial building in North Liberty resulted in several injuries, including a firefighter, according to a press release. The North Liberty Fire Department was called to the building at 390 Herky Street at 11 p.m. Monday night. When they arrived, they discovered multiple overhead doors hanging from the exterior of the building. The sprinkler system had been activated and the south wall was bowed out and the roof had lifted from the building, according to the news release. They also discovered one person suffering from serious burns.

State Auditor Sand To Host Town Halls In Area On Thursday
Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand invites the public to join him for several town hall meetings scheduled for Thursday in four area counties. Sand will host the first town hall of the day in Crawford County in Denison’s Washington Park from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sand will share updates from his office’s efforts to monitor and protect taxpayers’ money and root out waste, fraud, and abuse in state, county, and local governments. He then heads to Carroll’s Southside Park for a town hall from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. before traveling to Sac City Park in Sac City from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Sand finishes the day in Rockwell City at the Calhoun County Courthouse’s gazebo from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend any of these town hall meetings. A list of the upcoming dates, times, and locations for Sand’s town halls in the region is included below.
