The Fourth of July holiday comes with celebration and fun, but it also comes with increased risks on the road. The Fairfield Police Department said it is gearing up as it prepares for increased traffic from people out of town. Police said this is one of the weekends they have circled on their calendar every year. AAA says about 40% of fatal car crashes during the Fourth of July weekend involve drunk driving. Fairfield Police say they’ll be looking out for that, and thanks to a state grant, they’ll have extra cars and patrols on the road looking for any sign that someone shouldn’t be behind the wheel. Police say people should plan what days they will need an Uber or taxi ride home. "
