    For the third time in four years, the Fairfield Lady Eagles won the Region III-3A Powerlifting Meeting on Saturday, March 2, at Commerce High School. Eleven girls qualified and ten of them competed for Fairfield.

    Out of 20 schools, Fairfield won first place overall with 37 points. Winnsboro came in second place with 29 points. A total of 122 girls competed in the meet.

    “This year has been a testament to the competitiveness of this group,” Coach Kevin Childers said. “They are focused and want to win. I am extremely proud of them.”

    When all was said and done, five Lady Eagles advanced to the State Powerlifting Meet in Frisco on Thursday, March 14. They are Riley Stone, Emma Jo Smith, Taylor Stone, Callie Morgan, and Destiny Dowell. Auren Adams is an alternate for state.

    “The job is not done yet,” Childers said. “We have five girls competing at state and their expectation is to compete as hard as possible.”

    Rylie Stone grabbed first place in the 105 class with a squat of 245 pounds, bench press of 145 pounds, and deadlift of 260 pounds.

    In the 114 division, Emma Jo Smith won the gold with a squat of 325 pounds, bench press of 175 pounds, and deadlift of 275 pounds.

    Taylor Stone took first place in the 132 class with a squat of 360 pounds, bench press of 240 pounds, and deadlift of 305 pounds.

    In the 242 division, Callie Morgan won the silver with a squat of 320 pounds, bench press of 200 pounds, and deadlift of 325 pounds.

    Destiny Dowell won the gold in the 242+ class with a squat of 485 pounds, bench press of 240 pounds, and deadlift of 430 pounds.

    Auren Adams is an alternate for the state meet in the 105 division. She placed third with a squat of 200 pounds, bench press of 100 pounds, and deadlift of 210 pounds.

    Also competing at the Regional Meet were McKenzie Allen, Lindsey Cockerell, Braela Habbit, and Bre Willis.

    Allen placed tenth in the 105 class with a squat of 225 pounds, bench press of 105 pounds, and deadlift of 225 pounds.

    In the 123 division, Cockerell took ninth place with a squat of 225 pounds, bench press of 120 pounds, and deadlift of 235 pounds.

    Habbit placed fifth and Willis seventh in the 148 class. Habbit had a squat of 290 pounds, bench press of 140 pounds, and deadlift of 300 pounds. Willis had a squat of 275 pounds, bench press of 135 pounds, and deadlift of 270 pounds.
