    The Fairfield Lady Eagles fell to Buffalo and defeated Westwood this past week to move to 2-2 in district play. The Lady Eagles have an overall record of 8-8.

    On Monday night, March 11, Fairfield hosted the Buffalo Lady Bison. Although Fairfield had 17 hits during the game to Buffalo’s 13 hits and five errors, the Lady Bison came out on top 12-9.

    Fairfield led 8-3 after four innings of play. However, Buffalo got their bats going late in the game. The Lady Bison scored four runs in the fifth, three runs in the sixth, and two runs in the seventh to take a 12-8 lead. The Lady Eagles only managed to score one run in the bottom of the seventh as Buffalo took home the 12-9 road win.

    Kennedy Lane and Landry Bayless each had three hits for the Lady Eagles. Zadie McPherson, Madox Mitchael, Madelyn Morrison, Alyssa Allen, and Cadence Webster all had two hits as Evelyn Fultz had one hit.

    Allen pitched five innings and struck out two batters as Lane pitched two innings and struck out two batters.

    Fairfield traveled to Westwood on Wednesday, March 13, and run-ruled the Lady Panthers, 16-1, in five innings.

    The Lady Eagles scored three runs in the first inning, one in the third inning, eight in the fourth inning, and four in the fifth inning. Westwood’s lone run came in the bottom of the fourth inning.

    Fairfield had ten hits during the game. Lane and Webster had two hits each as McPherson, Mitchael, Bayless, Morrison, Allen, and Fultz each had one.

    Lane pitched for the Lady Eagles. She struck out three batters and gave up seven hits.

    Fairfield hosted the Franklin Lady Lions on Tuesday, March 19. The Lady Eagles will travel to Elkhart on Friday, March 22, to take on the Lady Elks before hosting the Groesbeck Lady Goats next Tuesday, March 26.
