    The Fairfield Eagles defeated Buffalo 10-8 and fell to Westwood 8-7 this past week. The Eagles move to 12-4 on the season and 2-1 in district play.

    On Tuesday night, Fairfield hosted Buffalo and came out on top with a 10-8 home win. The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Bison responded with three runs in the top of the second inning to take a 3-2 lead.

    The Eagles scored four runs in the bottom of second inning to take a 6-3 lead and never looked back. The Bison added a run in the fourth as the Eagles added three more to make it a 9-4 game.

    Buffalo scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning and Fairfield added a run in the bottom of the inning. The Bison managed to score two more runs in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles came out with the 10-8 home victory.

    Fairfield had eight hits on the night as Buffalo had nine hits. Kohl Collins led the way with three hits for the Eagles as Rowdy Hand, Mason Daniel, Cameron Cockerell, and Finn Smith had one.

    Cockerell pitched five and one third innings and struck out six batters. Conner Colvert pitched an inning and Hand pitched two thirds an inning for Fairfield.

    On Thursday, March 14, Fairfield traveled to Westwood and fell to the Panthers 8-7.

    The Eagles led 7-1 after the first five and a half innings of play. The Panthers scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it a one run game, 7-6.

    Westwood managed to scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the 8-7 home win over the Eagles.

    Fairifeld played Franklin on Tuesday night, March 19. The Eagles will travel to Elkhart on Friday, March 22, to take on the Elks before hosting the Groesbeck Goats next Tuesday, March 26.
