MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Fairhope man found possessing a firearm after being convicted of a felony has been sentenced to prison, according to the United States Department of Justice.

UPDATE: Man dies after Crestview crash on I-10 (FHP)

The USDOJ said in a press release that 30-year-old Christopher Caleb Thomas was sentenced on July 18, 2024.

According to court documents, Thomas’s sentencing comes after he pled guilty to having a gun as a convicted felon in March of 2023, stemming from an incident when Baldwin County deputies saw he was wearing an empty holster and found a gun in his car.

U.S. District Attorney Judge Jeffrey Beaverstock sentenced Thomas to serve a 24-month prison sentence and a three-year term of supervised release.

He will also have to pay $100 in special mandatory assessments in addition to being subject to testing and treatment for substance abuse and searches of his premises and person, documents said.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Gloria Bedwell prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.”
