1 dead, 1 injured after being hit by truck in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Two pedestrians were struck by a truck in Fall River on Wednesday, according to police.

The crash happened around noon in the 200 block of Joseph Drive.

Police said one person did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other person was taken to a trauma center with “significant, but non-life-threatening injuries.”

My Brother’s Keeper, a ministry that delivers furniture and food to families in need, told 12 News the incident involved one of its volunteers.

The organization sent an email to its volunteers that read in part, “It is hard to express the profoundness of our loss, pain, and grief. We are devastated.”

Detectives are still investigating this incident.
