The recent severe weather conditions in Southeast Texas have led to widespread flooding and displacement of residents. Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate their homes as heavy rains continue to saturate the region, causing damage to properties and infrastructure across multiple counties, including Polk, Montgomery, and Harris.

Emergency shelters, like the one at Dunbar Gym, have become temporary homes for evacuees, many of whom are elderly or have young children. Families like Clinton Jones' are grappling with losing their homes and possessions, with uncertain futures ahead.

The situation remains precarious as thunderstorms persist, and flooding poses significant risks, particularly along the Trinity River. Conditions have become too hazardous for first responders to access some areas, complicating rescue efforts.

In Livingston, which sits east of Lake Livingston, flooding has caused substantial damage to homes and businesses. Cleanup efforts are underway, but the aftermath of the storms is evident in debris scattered throughout the town.

Local businesses, like Isis Martin's sewing shop, have been affected, with water damage disrupting operations. Despite the challenges, residents like Martin are resilient and determined to rebuild and support each other through this difficult time.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of the storms, there is hope for clearer skies ahead. However, the road to recovery will be long, with many facing the daunting task of rebuilding their lives after this natural disaster.
