Middle Island, N.Y.- On June 9th at about 2:57 PM the Middle Island FD was activated for a report of a house fire on Yaphank Middle Island Rd. On arrival of 1st Assistant Chief William Nevins {5-15-31} there was smoke coming from the eves and a fire in the attic. Assistant Chief Nevins transmitted the Signal 13-35 working fire assignment. Activating this brought in additional manpower from his department and also triggered the mutual aid plan.
