(WHNT) — Changes are coming to scheduling for the UNA baseball and softball teams.

The ASUN announced that the conference will move to divisional scheduling and the new divisions will be in place for the 2025 seasons.

Across both sports, the Northeast Division includes Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Central Arkansas, EKU, Lipscomb, and North Alabama. FGCU, Jacksonville, North Florida, Queens, Stetson, and the league’s newest member West Georgia make up the Southeast Division.

In baseball, each team plays 10 series (five home, five away) for a total of 30 games against opponents within their division.

The softball schedule features eight series (four home, four away) for a 24-game slate. Softball teams face three opponents within their division twice and play the remaining two only once.

“The move to a divisional scheduling model for the Baseball and Softball seasons will provide tremendous cost savings to our institutions, will enhance local rivalries, and will improve the experience of our student-athletes,” ASUN commissioner Jeff Bacon said. “Coupled with a regionalized scheduling approach to the 2024-25 Men’s and Women’s Basketball seasons, these changes demonstrate the commitment of the Atlantic Sun Conference, via our Directors of Athletics and Presidents, to provide an elite student-athlete experience in a fiscally responsible manner. Our conference is in a position of strength and our destination-based membership will continue to work to identify opportunities to accelerate our growth trajectory.”

The softball season ends with the 2025 ASUN Championship on May 6-10 while the league crowns its next baseball Champion after the postseason tournament held on May 20-25.
