Florence honors water art winners

The Florence Town Council has  honored the winners of the "Every Drop Counts" Water Stewardship Art Contest.

Organized by the town’s Water Resource Analyst Paige Gangloff, the contest asked for submissions from students of all ages to showcase their creativity and dedication to water conservation. Gangloff received 61 submissions.

The winners were honored during the council’s Monday meeting.

The winners were:

• First place -- Madison Murphy for "Water You Waste is Other People’s Needs."
• Second place -- Leah Shalkowski for "Crying Over a Drought."
• Third place -- Jazmyn Elliot for "Every Drop Counts."

Honorable mentions Chevelle Sullivan, Demetri Larsen, Estrella Diego and Benjamin Wilkinson were also recognized during the ceremony.

Throughout the Earth Month of April, the community is invited to visit the lobby of the Viney Jones Library and Community Center to view all the contest entries and celebrate Water Awareness Month.
