Miami-Dade, FL - An inmate at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center has been charged with harassing a southwest Miami-Dade man by making death threats over Instagram.

According to an arrest report released by the Miami-Dade Police Department on Wednesday, 30-year-old Jovannie Castro, of Florida City, faces one count of written threats to kill or injure.

Police responded to a call near the 29000 block of Southwest 149th Court on June 26th, after the victim reported receiving menacing messages from Castro via Instagram shortly after 5 p.m.

Detectives said the victim provided screenshots of the threats, where Castro chillingly wrote, “I’ma be the one that takes your life away. They spray the first time. I’m not gonna spare you.” He later added, “No, I want your soul.”

Investigators verified that the Instagram account belonged to Castro, as it featured a full-body picture of him as the profile image.

The relationship between Castro and the victim was not disclosed in the arrest report.

Castro remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, having been previously incarcerated for violating house arrest on an unrelated charge.

His bond has not yet been determined.
