The three-day weekend that marks the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day weekend, is almost here.
Although Labor Day means a three-day weekend for most, many service workers will be clocking into work on Monday – as most grocery stores and restaurants will stay open on the federal holiday.
Here’s when most grocery stores in Florida open and close and which services won’t be available on Labor Day.

“The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century , when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.”
Which stores are open, closed on Labor Day in Florida?
Since it is one of 11 federal holidays, government offices will be closed on Labor Day, including the U.S. Postal Service. Banks will be closed as well.
But most restaurants, fast food establishments and grocery stores will be open.
Is Publix open on Labor Day? When does Publix open?
Most Publix stores open at 7 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. Some Publix stores close at 9 p.m. regularly, but not many. Publix Liquors stores open at 9 a.m. or 10 a.m., depending on the location.
Publix stores only close for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
