Utica man found guilty on weapons charges
UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A jury has found a Utica man guilty of firearms charges after three days of deliberation in Oneida County Court. Asad Mohamed was arrested in March of 2023 of second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, as well as Criminal Possession of a Firearm. Since his arrest, two counts of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon have been added to the charges. The third degree weapons charges are both Class D Violent Felonies.

GEDDES, N.Y. — An outdoor fire broke out at the Ben Weitsman of Syracuse scrap facility in Geddes Tuesday morning. At 5:58 a.m., the Solvay Fire Department responded to 333 Bridge Street and arrived at a large outdoor fire according to the department's Facebook page. New York forest rangers conduct nearly 20 rescues in one week
The New York State DEC responded to more than a dozen calls for help over the course of a week, most of which were in the Adirondacks. One call for a dehydrated hiker in Keene required assistance from a New York State Police helicopter. Another call involved reports of an unresponsive hiker who had passed out in her car at the Adirondack Mountain Reserve.
FBI raids NY home of Gov. Hochul’s former deputy chief of staff (report)
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has searched the New York home of a former aide to Gov. Kathy Hochul, according to The New York Times. FBI agents reportedly raided a $3.5 million house on Long Island where Linda Sun, Hochul’s former deputy chief of staff, lives with her husband. An FBI spokesman confirmed the “conducted court-authorized law enforcement activity” took place early Tuesday morning, but did not comment further.
