Hotel coming to site of old VCSC building
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Plans to tear down the old Vigo County School Corporation building have been announced. The building at Seventh and Wabash has been vacant for several years since it was acquired by Terre Haute’s redevelopment department back in 2021. While the timing of the demolition is unknown, it has been decided that the site will be used to build another hotel. Redevelopment department director Jordan Marvel says Terre Haute hotels are constantly near capacity.
Cost Of Renovating The Indiana Theater over $28 Million.
Terre Haute, In. – Representatives from Studio Axis informed The Vigo County Capital Improvement Board on Wednesday that the estimated cost of renovating the Indiana Theater will be over $28 million. The study shows that the 100-year-old building is in pretty good shape but there are many issues that have to be addressed. Construction work will cost $22,399,480, with an additional $6 million covering furniture, fixtures and equipment. That translates into a cost of $450 per square foot.
Recycling Center Now Accepting Glass
Terre Haute, In. – The city and Vigo County Solid Waste management have announced that the eastside recycling center is now accepting glass. The glass must be clean and dry. The center also accepts paper, cardboard, aluminum and No, 1, 2 and 5 plastics. The center is located on 14th Street between Crawford and College Avenues.

Town Hall Meeting scheduled for Terre Town Connect Project
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Terre Haute announced a town hall meeting for July 29 to gauge interest in the Terre Town Connect Project. The meeting will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Terre Town Elementary School. The initiative aims to connect Terre Town residents to Indiana American Water’s public utility water system.
