Demi Moore put a feminine spin on men’s suiting while at the Toronto International Film Festival. The star was at the event yesterday to promote her new project “The Substance.” For it, she and stylist Brad Goreski riffed on suiting all the way down to her shoes.
Moore’s look was from Thom Browne , a designer who has long deconstructed and reconstructed suiting in his designs. For this specific outfit, the white button up remained intact, though the sleeves seem longer than normal, matched with a short black tie. With this Moore wore an ankle length pencil skirt with a high waist, reminiscent of a tuxedo cummerbund.

The skirt also included a starfish embellishment on the hip from Tiffany & Co. The skirt featured a slit up the back, which includes Thom Browne’s signature red white and blue tag inside. The look is from the brand’s fall 2024 show.

The shoe is a slick patent leather pump. It includes a sculpted heel seen on the lionshare of Thom Browne heels. That heel curves from the bottom of the foot in to the inside of the heel and then flares back out before reaching the ground. The shoe also includes brogue detailing, which Browne also often includes in his women’s shoes.
Maison Margiela is also offering heels with brogue tailoring at the moment, notably with its Bourgeois Spectator styles but they also include the Tabi toe — this has been with increasing popularity by celebrities recently.
Moore’s pump includes a pointed toe and a low cut vamp. None of Thom Browne’s current styles on offer are the exact style as Moore’s.

The look is a dressier, evening version of the office siren trend that cropped up on TikTok earlier this year. That aesthetic takes what one might have considered business casual in the 1990s and early 2000s and feminizing or romanticizing it. Taylor Russell did it to perfection on the red carpet at Venice International Film Festival last week. Moore’s look is an upgraded, formal version of that aesthetic.
