Local Athletes Compete at World Championships
The Underwater Hockey Age Group World Championships taking place this week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, have included athletes from Door County representing the United States. Two women – Molly Banks and Kailee Moe – and three men – Mark Herrell, Owen Foulds and Ezra Linnan – were on the rosters of their respective U24 teams for players born in 2001 or later.
Casey Rabach Named Badgers Assistant Coach
Sturgeon Bay native and former college and pro football offensive lineman Casey Rabach has been named an assistant offensive line coach at the University of Wisconsin. Rabach joined the Badgers’ staff as a personnel assistant in 2022 before moving into the director of scouting role in the spring of 2023 and playing a key role in Wisconsin’s recruiting efforts.
Algoma prepares for battles on the beach
Algoma's Crescent Beach will be the site of two separate volleyball tournaments next month as a part of the community's Shanty Days Celebration. On August 10th, the 1th Annual Shanty Days "Battle on the Beach" Volleyball Tournament will take place with up to 16 teams participating. The Pool Play Round-Robin style tournament sets up the bracket-style playoff tournament, guranteeing each team at least seven matches.
