If you've ever found yourself driving on the New York State Thruway you know that every 50 miles or so there are service areas that drivers can use to fuel up, stretch their legs, use the restroom, and or get something to eat. The New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA) currently has 27 service areas along the 500+ miles of controlled-access toll roads.

NY weather update: Flash flood warning affecting Broome and Delaware counties Thursday night
An updated flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 7:56 p.m. in effect until 10 p.m. for Broome and Delaware counties. "At 7:56 p.m., Doppler radar indicated that the showers and thunderstorms that produced heavy rain across the warned area have weakened and were moving east of the warned area. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen based on rain gauge and radar estimates. Additional rainfall amounts up to one half inch are still possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly," according to the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."
