On June 24, at approximately 3:23 pm, officers responded to the St. Charles Towne Center parking lot after a citizen reported seeing a group of four juveniles breaking into several cars.

Officers arrived to the parking lot and the four suspects immediately fled on foot but were quickly apprehended, according to a release from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. An investigation found three vehicles had been broken into and damaged, and several tools used to enter the cars were recovered from the suspects, the release said.

The four juveniles, including three 15-year-olds from Accokeek and a 14-year-old from Fort Washington, were arrested at the scene and charged with juvenile offense reports for breaking and entering a motor vehicle, destruction of property and other related crimes, according to the release. All were later released to a parent.

Suitland man allegedly steals from storeOn June 5, Charles sheriff’s officers responded to the Home Depot located in Waldorf for the reported theft of power tools. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the store’s asset protection specialist.

Officers learned that the suspect, Theron Douglas Kidd, is known to the asset protection specialist due to his alleged involvement in two previous incidents, according to charging documents.

Kidd was allegedly seen on tape entering the Home Depot on May 24, going through the store with a cart and stopping in the power tools section of the store. He allegedly tried to climb a Milwaukee power tools display case before an employee stopped him and attempted to offer service, the charging documents say.

Kidd left the area for a short period of time before returning to the display case. When he returned to the display case, he allegedly attempted to break into it. He allegedly bent the bars of the case and began taking out boxes of tools, charging documents say.

Nine tools, worth a total of $3,091, were reportedly stolen. Kidd fled the store, the documents say.

Felony theft charges were filed against Kidd on June 25.
