AURORA, MO – The Aurora Lady Houns hosted their annual Kick-Off Classic Tournament this Saturday, August 31st, in preparation for their 2024-25 Fall regular season.

The Tournament consisted of Aurora, Hillcrest, and Seneca.

The matchup of Aurora versus Seneca was the final game of the day.

Pitcher Callie Rhoades for Seneca was on fire in Game 2 and looked to keep her foot on the gas pedal in Game 3.

Picking up right where she left off, Rhoades secured a base hit and sent home Kahli Fields for the first run of the game, trying to set the tone early.

The bats were hot in the first inning as Maddie Collinsworth ripped one to shortstop, resulting in an error.

The ball rolled all the way over to second base and Rhoades wasted no time. She headed home for another early Seneca run.

A few field struggles to start for the hosts, but, the Lady Houns pitcher Mallory Brogdon, held it down from the circle with a strikeout to close the inning.

Aurora would then approach the plate with McKenzie Morgan striking one over to second. Another era in the field resulted in the Lady Houns getting back up on the scoring board. Bailey Lower would slide on home to push the pace of the offense.

Next, Lily Marks joined the party and hit a shot of her own. Rhoades, the pitcher for Seneca, scooped it up to make the play but another era was committed by the Lady Indian’s defense.

Morgan came running into home and Aurora stayed on top for the remainder of the contest winning 12-8.

Next up on September 3rd at 4pm, Aurora will travel to Branson, while Seneca will travel to Carthage at 5pm.
