The website Energy Sage says the "average" energy bill for a Missouri household is around $144 per month. Obviously, there are many variables including what temperature you put your air conditioner on, the size of your Missouri space that you need to cool, etc. However, that number has been pretty accurate for our Missouri home...until now.
Moderate Drought Expands in Missouri Despite Recent Rainfall
Missouri’s drought picture is a bit complicated this week. The latest drought monitor map shows an area of moderate drought and abnormally dry conditions in northeastern Missouri has shrunk in size, thanks to recent thunderstorms moving through. However, an abnormally dry area in southwestern Missouri has expanded and moderate drought conditions have developed in Joplin and Neosho. Overall, nearly 80% of Missouri is not experiencing any dry conditions at all, an improvement over last week’s figure of nearly 75%. Missouri remains under a drought alert until September 1st.
Several metro counties under Flood Warning for the area
Several counties in the metro area are under an area flood warning until 8 p.m. today. Kansas and Missouri residents in Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami, Wyandotte, Jackson, and Cass counties should be aware of a flood warning in effect. The warning encompasses these areas and should be taken seriously to ensure safety.
