CLINTON, Ark. – Clinton community members gathered Wednesday night to honor and remember a woman who went missing two years ago.

Chelsea Woods went missing at 38 years old on Aug. 28, 2022. A report from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office stated that Woods called 911 because of who was inside her home.

Authorities said deputies found her down the road, but she only wanted to speak with a specific officer. Because the officer was not there, police said she ran further into the woods.

Deputies said they tried to convince Woods to return home but she wouldn’t and no one has seen her since.

Botkinburg Foursquare Church pastor Rocky Thomas said he remembers the weeks after she went missing, noting that his church was the meeting place for search parties.

“I just saw a unity, they were unified around the one cause: ‘Let’s find anything we can about what happened to Chelsea,’” Thomas said.

Woods’ family from out of state also sent messages to the community

“I believe it’s just a heartfelt plea and some of them are speaking directly to her, they miss her, they love her, and they want her to be found,” Thomas said.

Thomas said the community is holding onto hope that answers will come soon.

“We’re just believing and trusting that there will be answers in the days to come,” he said.

He noted that the Morgan Nick Foundation also played an important role in making the candlelight vigil happen.
