FOX23 takes a look inside the Owasso home that's part of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway!
St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway sponsors like Stone Canyon and FOX23’s radio partner K95.5 put their mark on the concrete before the builder, Shaw Homes, puts down the flooring.
“It kind of makes you stop your daily life. We kind of grind through everyday, do the same things, then show up and see the enthusiasm of everybody, see all the stars on the floors,” said Chris Meyer, owner of Turner Roofing.
Turner Roofing has put the roof on the dream home for the last five years and Meyer said the cause is especially important to him because he watched his nephew fight a brain tumor.
“He is now 18, thriving and in college. We just continue to like to give back,” Meyer said.
Shaw Homes President Joe Antis described the culture of the company and said it's never a challenge to get their subcontractors and partners, like Turner Roofing, to donate.
This is the fifth year Shaw Homes has built the dream home.
“Our culture is to give and to help and to support people outside of ourselves. To be givers and to support something like this, it's wonderful,” said Antis. “ A lot of them you barely get the words out of your mouth and they're like we're in, you don't even have to ask, we're in.”
St. Jude Development Director Jillian Bolding organized the floor signing party with a Hollywood theme, which is a nod to St. Jude founder, actor and comedian Danny Thomas and to Tulsa's own Levi Kline. FOX23 introduced you to him, back in 2022 when he'd just wrapped up two and a half years of chemotherapy and was excited to finally jump back into the lake at his nana's house.
Now he's the face of the St. Jude Dream Home campaign and is on all of the marketing materials for dream homes across the country. His father, Tommy, told FOX23 he can't even fathom where they'd be if St. Jude hadn't covered the cost of all of Levi's treatment for leukemia.
“The financial blessing of St. Jude and how they cover the treatment, but also they help out in ways that go beyond medical. They love on families, they care for families and that's what all of this makes possible,” Tommy said.
“To hear Levi's story, it made me stop thinking about work and start focusing on them and think about what's the best thing we can do in life and that's to give back,” Meyer said.

Bassett Furniture will be staging the home with furniture and then you'll be able to come inside the dream home and check it out.
