$5.5 million dollar lien filed against developer of Vinita theme park

    2024-05-13

VINITA, Okla. -  A Canadian company involved in the planning of a new theme park in Vinita has placed a $5.5 million dollar lien against the developer for unpaid work.

FORREC , a design firm based in Toronto, filed a mechanic and materials lien in Craig County District Court against the Mansion Entertainment Group . FORREC claims it has not been paid for design work and planning on the new 2 billion dollar American Heartland Theme Park and Resort .

This statement was sent to FOX23 from Gene Bicknell, founder and chief creative officer of American Heartland Theme Park:

"We are aware of the lien filed in Craig County and regret we were not able to come to an agreement with the party. It is Mansion Entertainment’s policy not to pay for work until it has been submitted and a comprehensive review of the work has been performed. As of today, such a review has not been scheduled. We continue to move forward and work to rectify this situation as soon as possible."

The 1,000-acre theme park is scheduled to open in 2026 and the RV campground was targeted for completion next year. A groundbreaking for the 320-acre RV campground was held in November.

FOX23 reached out to FORREC for comment and have not yet received a reply.
