Dequan Finn named Baylor starting quarterback

WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — A new era is ready to begin after a lengthy quarterback battle that lasted throughout spring and fall camp as Baylor football named Dequan Finn the starting quarterback for the season opener against Tarleton State on Monday.

Dave Aranda met with offensive coordinator Jake Spavital over the weekend following a neck-and-neck race in the fall and ultimately landed on the former MAC player of the year to lead the offense.

Finn transferred to Baylor after three seasons at Toledo, racking up 7,074 yards and 63 passing touchdowns in addition to 1,840 yards and 25 touchdowns on the ground.
