New neighborhood park coming to Otay Mesa

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A new neighborhood park is coming to Otay Mesa, according to the city of San Diego.

The Riviera Del Sol neighborhood park is nearing completion after about seven years of planning.

On Wednesday, the city posted an update on X/Twitter , showing recently installed shade structures and a rubberized surface for the playground areas. (See the photos below) .

The total cost of the project is estimated at more than $9.5 million. According to the city, the preliminary design process for the Riviera Del Sol neighborhood park began in 2017 followed by the start of construction in January 2022.

The park will be located between Riviera Shores Street and Riviera Summit Road, according to a map posted by the city.

The project includes 4.9 acres within the Otay Mesa community and is set to feature open lawn areas, a basketball court, playgrounds, picnic shelters and more.
