    3.5 magnitude earthquake strikes near Borrego Springs Sunday night: USGS

    SAN DIEGO ( FOX 5/KUSI ) — Two earthquakes struck near Borrego Springs Sunday night, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

    USGS reports a 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck just under 4 miles east of Borrego Springs at 10:58 p.m. Sunday at a depth of 2.7 miles.

    Series of earthquakes near Mexican border rattle San Diego County

    The USGS shake map shows reports of weak to light shaking throughout San Diego County in the City of San Diego, Escondido, Poway, Chula Vista, some parts of East County and even as far as San Bernardino.

    Another less intense earthquake, a 1.4 magnitude, struck at 11:01 p.m. Sunday just under 4 miles east-southeast of Borrego Springs at a depth of 1.7 miles. There were no reports of shaking from that earthquake.
