Pulaski County Detention Center evacuated after laundry room fire

SOMERSET, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Fire crews quickly responded to a structure fire in the laundry room of the Pulaski County Detention Center.

On Monday, flames and smoke were seen coming from a clothes dryer in the laundry room and were quickly extinguished, according to the Somerset Fire Department. The building was ventilated while inmates were quickly moved to an outdoor recreation area for safety by detention center staff.

Fire crews stayed on the scene and used equipment to monitor air quality at the facility to ensure the safety of the inmates and the staff.
