    Kentucky schools plan to wear pink in honor of late Cairo Elementary 4th grader

    LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Schools across the Bluegrass have posted on Facebook over the weekend inviting students and staff to wear pink on Monday to show support for a family after the loss of their daughter on her first day of fourth grade.

    On Sunday, Whitley County School District , Boyle County Middle School , and Rockcastle County Schools each posted the same flyer on Facebook. Knox Central High School also shared the flyer on their Facebook page.

    The bottom of the flyer shared by several Kentucky school districts on Sunday had the hashtag “Pinkies Up 4 Lucy.”

    “On Monday, please join us in wearing pink to honor Lucy,” Rockcastle County Schools said in the district’s Sunday Facebook post, “By coming together, we can show our support for her family and Henderson County Schools during this difficult time.”

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

    “Whitley County Schools are going to wear PINK tomorrow in support of Henderson County Schools and Lucy Nash’s family. Lucy’s life fell short on the school playground last week and her family made the difficult choice to donate her organs so that many other people can live,” said the Whitley County School District.

    Cairo Elementary also posted on Facebook inviting Kentucky to “pink up” for Lucy.
