When deputies arrived, 29-year-old Byron Howard told authorities he and 28-year-old Tayla Fess had gotten into an argument that became physical. Court documents report that Fess told the deputies Howard had choked her, but she did not lose consciousness.

The responding deputy noted Fess’s neck was red in an arrest citation.

Howard allegedly showed deputies a video of Fess hitting him in the head with a “cooking pan,” per court documents. The LCSO noted Howard did have a “pump knot” on his head as a result.
